Nagaland: WSH president Shikaho Zhimomi passes away

DIMAPUR, DEC 16 (NPN)

Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) president Shikaho Zhimomi passed away Tuesday in New Delhi where he was undergoing medical treatment. He was 69. He leaves behind his wife and five children—two sons three daughters—and four grandchildren.
Born 1956, late Shikaho retired as general manager of Handloom Handicrafts Department in 2017.
Brother of former MLA, Azheto Zhimomi, Shikaho, who was serving as vice president of WSH in 2022 became WSH president following the demise of then WSH president Dr. Kakheto Zhimomi. He served one full tenure as WSH president.
According to family sources, the body would arrive on December 17. The funeral service would be held at Kiyeto village under Dhansiripar.
Condolences
WSH: Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has expressed grief over the passing of its president Shikaho Zhimomi, saying his death was a devastating blow, an irreplaceable loss not only to the Sumi community but to the entire Naga people.
In a condolence note, the hoho said in his demise, they have lost a towering statesman, a principled leader, and a devoted servant whose life was anchored in integrity, humility, and an unyielding commitment to the welfare of the people.
WSH said late Shikaho Zhimomi led with rare moral authority and quiet strength. It said his presidency was defined by wisdom, clarity of purpose, and an unrelenting pursuit of unity and harmony.
The hoho stated that the legacy he left behind was indelible and would continue to guide and inspire generations yet to come.
WSH extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, and loved ones. The hoho prayed that the Lord Almighty provide them with divine strength, comfort, and abiding peace during this hour of immense sorrow.

as “a genuine and devoted leader” who loved his people sincerely and worked tirelessly for the welfare of the Sümi community.
In a condolence message, SH president Dr. Vihuto Asumi said late Shikaho Zhimomi, even in the face of personal health challenges, consistently dedicated his strength, time, and wisdom toward uplifting the Sümi people and striving for unity among the greater Naga community. SH stated that late Zhimomi’s commitment to harmony, cultural pride, and communal solidarity was evident in every initiative he led and every gathering he guided.
SH said Sümi people have lost an irreplaceable leader whose absence would be keenly felt across the communities. “His enduring spirit of service, humility, and vision for unity will continue to inspire future generations,” SH stated.
The Hoho expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grant them strength in this time of grief, and that the departed soul find eternal peace.
DSC: Dimapur Sumi Council (DSC) expressed pain over the passing of WSH president Shikaho Zhimomi and said that his unwavering humility simplicity, compassion, and dedication to public service would be always cherished and deeply missed.
DSC through its media cell said late Shikaho Zhimomi made remarkable efforts to break barriers and foster peace and unity among the Naga tribes as well as all others too.
Describing late Zhimomi as a true gentleman and a humble leader, DSC said he got along with all whom he came across.
The council said late Zhimomi led not by command but by example, adding that his legacy of humbleness and kindness would continue to inspire all.
DSC expressed sympathy to Mrs.Vihuli Zhimomi, children, and all the family and relatives of the departed leader and prayed that God comfort them in this hour of grief.
