The 15th WDFA Lotha Football Championship continued to gather pace on its third day at the Public Ground, Wokha, with four group-stage matches producing thrilling action, standout individual performances, and decisive results.
In the opening match, Nitsu Yan FC overcame an early setback to defeat Airfield Colony FC 3–1. Airfield Colony struck first through Tumben in the 6th minute, but Nitsu Yan’s Yiben stole the show with a brilliant hat-trick, scoring in the 30th, 49th and 70+2 minutes. His clinical finishing not only secured the first hat-trick of the tournament but also earned him the Man of the Match award.
Flamingo FC registered a comfortable 3–0 victory over Emirates FC in the second match. Chumben opened the scoring in the 25th minute, followed by goals from Renbemo (52’) and Yisanbemo (61’). Yisanbemo’s energetic display was rewarded with the Man of the Match honour.
Nyiro Range FC (NRFC) maintained their winning momentum with a 2–0 triumph over Tsumang FC. An early own goal in the 4th minute gave NRFC the lead, which Gabriel extended in the 23rd minute. Imtisashi’s composed performance earned him the Man of the Match recognition.
The final encounter of the day saw Friends Club stage a spirited comeback to edge past Old Changsu FC 2–1. Old Changsu took the lead just before halftime through Lavanthung (43’), but Neisede Peseyie turned the tide with a brace in the 53rd and 60th minutes. His match-winning effort secured him the Man of the Match award.
