Nagaland youth competes at India Skills Nationals

Nagaland has achieved a milestone by reaching the National Level of the IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 for the first time. Representing the State is Imtisangla Kangshou, a silver medalist at the Zonal Level, who is competing in the Restaurant Service job role.
The competition, one of the country’s largest skill development events, commenced on March 29 at Auditorium-I, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and will culminate on April 2, 2026. It has brought together participants, officials, experts, and dignitaries from across 36 States and Union Territories, reflecting the nationwide commitment to skill development and youth empowerment.
IndiaSkills follows a rigorous selection process beginning at the District Level, progressing through State and Zonal Levels, before reaching the national stage. Nagaland’s contingent comprises one State official, one team leader, and the lone participant, Imtisangla Kangshou.
The inaugural ceremony featured an audio-visual presentation highlighting participation from all regions of the country, followed by addresses from eminent dignitaries including Prof. Rana Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University, and senior officials from Technical Education, Skill Development, Employment, and Youth Affairs.
Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, Manisha Sensarma, in her special address, emphasized the importance of skill-based education and an industry-ready workforce. The keynote address was delivered by Debashree Mukherjee, secretary, MSDE, who underscored the Government’s commitment to promoting excellence in skills and innovation among youth.
The ceremony also showcased cultural performances reflecting India’s heritage and diversity. Over the four-day event, competitions will be held across 60 job roles covering multiple sectors. Winners of the national competition will earn the opportunity to represent India at the International Skills Competition scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, in September 2026.
