Nagaland YYO adopts key resolutionsfor community welfare

DIMAPUR

Yimkhiung Youth Organisation (YYO), during its 1st executive council conference held on October 31 at Pungro Town under the theme “Sukhit-To,” unanimously adopted a series of resolutions aimed at safeguarding the welfare and identity of the Yimkhiung community.
Among the key resolutions, the YYO enforced a strict no-drugs policy, barred non-locals from bearing the Yimkhiung title, launched an annual plantation drive to be observed from March to August with a strict ban on deforestation, and resolved to take firm action in cases where any Yimkhiung individual is denied constitutional rights or if the tribe is defamed.
The council also welcomed the Federal Council’s order dated October 27, 2025, which prohibits Naga Political Groups from levying taxes on local businesses and entrepreneurs.
The inaugural session was graced by Khesangmong Yimkhiung, proprietor of M/S Likimro Enterprise, who encouraged the youth to equip themselves with practical skills, remain dedicated, and serve as the backbone of the community.
Short speeches were delivered by Nelizo Tep, executive chairman of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC), ADC Pungro; president of Yimkhiung GB’s Arihako; president of Khongsa Area Public Organisation; and president of Pungro Subdivision Public Forum.
The monolith dedication and invocation were led by Tsuyihba, pastor of Pungro Town Baptist Church, while the benediction was pronounced by Dr. Berimong, pastor of Pungro Village Baptist Church.
The programme was chaired by YYO vice president H. Hanso, with the welcome address delivered by president Apong Janger. Vote of thanks was proposed by YYO secretary Joshua K.
