Vidima village commemorated its 50 years of establishment on January 5 under the theme “A testament to 50 years of faith, hard work and togetherness.”
The jubilee celebrations were graced by Zhaleo Rio, advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, as chief guest.
Vidima village was established on January 5, 1976, with the blessings of Chümoukedima village, which had donated land to the settlers and continues to be its parent village.
Delivering jubilee greetings, Zhaleo lauded the farsightedness of Chümoukedima elders who donated land for Vidima’s establishment. He urged villagers to further develop the land entrusted to them, investing time and resources to make Vidima a model village.
Zhaleo also called upon village leaders to bring about positive changes through efficiency and honesty, while remaining well-informed about government programmes and schemes that could aid physical development. Addressing the youth, he encouraged them to pursue trade and commerce for self-sufficiency, and to cultivate social etiquettes such as politeness to ensure smooth business conduct.
The programme began with an invocation prayer by Seyievil Zhotso, pastor Vidima Baptist Church, followed by a welcome address from Kezhangulie Pieki, chairman, Vidima Village Council. The Vidima Youth Jubilee Choir and Parent Body Choir presented folk fusion jubilee songs.
The celebration concluded with a note of gratitude by Vistolhou Peseyie, Jubilee convenor, and a closing prayer by Ruopfüvisie Nakhro, pastor CRC Vidima, followed by the jubilee feast.
