Nagaland: Zhekishe village, chruch celebrate golden jubilee

DIMAPUR

Zhekishe village and its Baptist Church under Niuland district celebrated its golden jubilee on Monday under the theme Galatians 2:13. The jubilee was graced by minster of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi as guest of honour.
Giving glory and praise to God for guiding the village through 50 years, Jacob encouraged the residents of Zhekishe to tread the path envisioned by the founding fathers for sustained progress and prosperity. Touching on the issue of the Disputed Area Belt (DAB), since the village falls under Aghunaqa Area bordering Assam, Jacob clarified that the phrase “DAB” was not coined by the Nagaland Government. He urged that the term should not hinder friendship between the two sides and appealed for restraint and patience.
Calling upon the youth, Jacob exhorted them to step up and claim their rightful place in society with humility as their foundation. He lamented the decline of the working culture among Naga youth, pointing out that while Nagas have their own fields and plantations, society has become overly dependent on outside labour. Reminding the gathering that money is not the antidote to all problems, Jacob appealed for wisdom and farsightedness to be inculcated in daily life. He urged the people to remain focused as they embark on a new journey of hope.
