Nagaland: Zhimomi calls for hard work and innovation

The Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) celebrated its 42nd Biennial Session on January 11 at Satami village. The programme was addressed by advisor, Land Resources Department, G. Ikuto Zhimomi.
In his address, Zhimomi highlighted the significant contributions of several bureaucrats and officers from the region, naming individuals who have served in key positions across various departments and brought laurels to Aghunato area.
Emphasising the opportunities available in the government sector, Zhimomi stated that thousands of vacancies are available and can be filled only through competitive examinations. He categorically ruled out backdoor appointments or political interference, stressing that recruitment is purely merit-based. Urging students to work hard, he said that examinations are open to all and encouraged aspirants to study with dedication to achieve their goals
The advisor further encouraged students not to rely solely on government employment but to explore entrepreneurship as a means of achieving self-reliance. Referring to the state’s employment scenario, he informed that Nagaland has around 70,000 registered unemployed youths and advised students to adapt to changing systems and seek alternative livelihoods.
Zhimomi also highlighted key state government initiatives aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and welfare, including the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Scheme for business startups and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme to assist the poor and needy.
