Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) Nagaland, which had launched agitation on October 9, 2024 demanding retention or replacement of math and science teachers, on Friday announced that it would launch phase-II intensified agitation starting October 29, 2024 till its demands were met.
In a letter to DC Peren, ZLSU general secretary Sanlakbo Namdau expressed dismay over the “indifferent attitude” of school education department, towards its genuine demands. The union stated that the indefinite closure of educational offices across Peren district has entered its fifteenth day, but there was no significant progress.
The union said it was also concerned on the progress of student in the absence subject teachers in some schools. Meanwhile, the union cautioned that the school education department would be held responsible for any untoward incidence that could so arise from the agitation.
