Nagaland’s first cardiac rehabilitation centre was inaugurated on Saturday at the Cardiac Care Centre, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur.
CIHSR director Dr. Sedevi Angami, speaking at the programme, said the centre marks a milestone in cardiac care and completes the institute’s vision of a full Cardiac Hub. He said the centre builds on earlier efforts including the Cardiology OPD, diagnostics, Cath Lab and ICCU.
Head of Cardiology department, Dr. Avitso Liegise, highlighted rising heart disease cases in Nagaland and called for long-term cardiac care. He said the centre will help patients recover, understand their condition, receive counselling, and adopt heart-friendly habits. “This center will play a vital role in helping patients regain function, understand their condition, receive counseling, undergo supervised exercise, and adopt heart-healthy lifestyles,” Dr. Liegise said.
The inaugural ceremony began with an invocation and dedication prayer led by CIHSR, Chaplain, Petekhrienuo, Dean of Medical Sciences, Dr. Leishwon Kumrah, officially inaugurated the center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and concluded with a closing hymn and a collective prayer of dedication.
