DIMAPUR: Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU), organised a two day hands on drone workshop on June 12 and 13 at the Village Council Hall, Kidima.
According to a press release, the programme marked Nagaland’s first drone workshop aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aimed at promoting skill based STEM education and fostering practical learning. A total of 120 students from 16 government and private schools across Southern Kohima district participated.
The workshop was inaugurated by special guest EAC Kezocha, Zerütso Kesiezie, who urged students to embrace technology and cultivate innovative mindsets through such rare opportunities.
Chief mentor at the Innovation Hub & SEC, Er. He emphasised that promoting science and technology was crucial to narrowing the regional digital divide and achieving experiential learning goals.
Technical sessions were led by Jr. Mentor Er. Vikuovotuo Zhale, technical assistant Er. Mhasheto Yhobu and intern engineer Er. Kekhruseto Soleho. The programme began with a welcome address by SASU president Kehozhol Noel Kulnu and concluded with a vote of thanks by SASU finance secretary Noseto Ltu.
Over the two days, students progressed from identifying drone components and assembling chassis to advanced circuitry, live test flights and an energetic inter school drone flight competition, reflecting the success of the initiative in fostering innovation and practical skills.
