Nagas are one: Along to Konyaks

Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, called on the Konyaks to stay together as a family reminding that Nagas were one and should continue the journey together as one.
He was speaking as the special guest at the Kohima Konyak Aoleang celebration held at the Amphitheatre, Kisama organised by Konyak Union Kisama.
Along said gone were the days and generations when people try to bring in divisive politics to harbour disunity among the people.
He said the younger generation Nagas now want to live together as a united Nagaland which both the elders and the youths were realising now.
He observed that there may be diversities in culture, beliefs, culinary preferences, however, Nagas were one people.
Along added that Aoleang festival was not only a festival for the Konyaks but also for all the rest of the people.
He urged the community to look forward for a united Nagaland that was inclusive.
Describing Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio as a “dynamic leader”, Along said under his leadership Nagaland had been living in an inclusive atmosphere and in such a scenario none of the Konyak youths were also left behind.
He hoped that the Aoleang festival would take across the message of inclusivity, togetherness and staying together as a family.
Along pointed out that Konyaks in the State capital inviting people from all the rest of the communities to their festival was an exemplary gesture which should be replicated even by the other communities.
Earlier, special guest for the celebration, Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO), president, R Tsapikiu Sangram extended festival greetings.
While, A Nyamnyei Konyak, MLA, delivered significance of the festival and invocation by Sr. Pastor, Kohima Konyak Baptist Church, Rev H Moba. KUK president, H Angnyei Konyak delivered the welcome address while L Nyamnyei Konyak extended the greetings. Vote of thanks was proposed by KUK vice president, Jeiang, while benediction was pronounced by KBBK associate women pastor, Nm Manngam.
Special number was presented by Phangmei Khung and cultural presentations by Chen Area, Mon Circle and Tobu area shekolan.
