Nagas at the crossroads, time to rise up: V Sakhrie

Commissioner and Secretary, V Sakhrie, said time has come to rise up, survive and compete with others as Nagas are at the crossroads and advocated to assess oneself how to live and make a strong beginning for future generations.
Addressing the inaugural session of the 65th general conference of Southern Angami Students Union (SASU) at Kidima village Saturday held on the theme “Adapt, improvise, achieve”, the Sakhrie regretted that Naga society has a practice of taking up works with blind imitation and said one need to learn how to set one’s own goals and strive to achieve. He also stressed on the principle of self control, self discipline, hard work and persistence stating that the super nations that “we” call are the reasons for applying these principles. He appealed the students to take these principles seriously and to be inspired and to imbibe good values from the ancestors and move along with the changing times.
Asserting that the theme of the conference was ideal as any difficult situation that a person comes across, one has to adapt with the situation, improvise what was available and struggle to progress, then only one can achieve its goal. Sakhrie informed to constantly remind oneself of life’s broad principles to know oneself, assess goals and stay focused stating that people’s integrity and deep sense of patriotism are very important for the society to move forward.
He also made aware the students not to be inclined towards politics. He said  politics will go on but as students one has to extend its support to the leaders wherever required. He also asked the students not to depend much on the government but ponder on what they can do to improve governance.
Further, the Commissioner Secretary informed to remember Christian principles and asked to learn to reconcile with God, with “yourself” and with the society so that nothing would go wrong.
The inaugural session was marked by special number by Vikhrienuo Yore and Viswema Students Union which was followed by extempore speech competition.
