
Former governor and former chief minister, Dr. S.C. Jamir, Saturday said that the Naga society needed honest and upright leaders to lead people in the right way.
Addressing the Kingdom Leaders Prayer Breakfast Programme held at De Oriental Hotel here, Dr. Jamir said that troubled states like Nagaland needed a leader like Nehemiah of the Bible who was honest, trustworthy and had great concern for his own people. Citing the example of Nehemiah, Jamir called upon the Naga people to forgo the position, comfort and sacrifice life for the sake of the people by rising up and rebuild the collapsed system of the society.
Veteran politician lamented that the good qualities of forefathers like truthfulness, courage and uprightness were diminishing in the present Naga society.
He said Nagas were suffering in different forms because they were diverting from truth.
Stressing the need for visionary leaders in Naga society, Jamir said a good leader should able to recognize and foresee the problem before people faced emergency situation. He reminded that the gathering that any God-fearing leader would do what was right for the people and society.
In his address, Leaders Arise Nagaland Founder Rev. Luoliehu Yimsung shared the seven pillars that influenced the society namely government, religion, business and finance, education, media fraternity, family and Art and entertainment.
Asserting that the time has come to make the right choices for the glory of God, Rev. Yimsung stated in such a defining moment of Nagaland “we need Godly leaders in government and in all fields.” Reverend also called upon the leaders of different organisations, government, teachers, media fraternity, business community, artists and sportspersons across Nagaland to come closer to God and be instruments for His glory in all their profession. The programme was chaired by Father’s House Church senior pastor Rev. Robert Kikon, special presentation by K.L. Pamei, greetings was delivered by Kohima village council chairman Dr. Neiphi Kire and programme ended with mass prayer for the Nagaland.
