Naknyulum festival celebrated in Tsg, MKg

Changs in Tuensang celebrated its premier festival Naknyulum Friday at CKS Hall Tuensang with Khiamniungan Tribal Council president, Mongchua as “naknyu guest” and ENPO general secretary, Amai Phom as the special invitee. 
In his speech, Amai Phom said Nagas in general and Eastern Nagas in particular have rich and vibrant culture and suggested the government to set up a cultural research centre in Tuensang. 
He also stressed on preserving the peculiarity of the rich culture and traditions of the Nagas.
Phom also encouraged the people of Tuensang to be responsible and act as a “good parent” to the rest of the Eastern Nagas, so that other tribes would emulate them.
Mongchua Khiam said modernization and advancement can only be achieved through peace and said peace and unity should be upheld for a society to progress.  He also urged the Chang community to celebrate the festival with greater meaning.
“Kongkin” (musical mouth organ) display was initiated by Chang Women Union (CTS) while Lole Band enchanted the gathering. The significance of Naknyulum was highlighted by advocate and women coordinator CCSU Yimtsusangla. The programme was also attended by Commandant 23rd Assam Rifle and his wife, dignitaries and special invitees amongst others.
MOKOKCHUNG: Changs in Mokokchung Friday celebrated Naknyulem festival under the aegis of Mokokchung Chang Union at the Town Hall here. 
The festival was celebrated with fervor as Chang community of Mokokchung marked the festival by both young and the old alike. The celebration was graced by Khozu Konyak as the chief guest who attended the festival in place Minister for RD of C.L. John.
Speaking at the program, Konyak stressed on the significance of Naknyulem (from darkness to light) and highlighted the importance of preserving one’s culture and traditions. 
He said cultural exchanges bring closer relationship between tribes and communities saying such practice would strengthen Naga brotherhood. 
Konyak then called upon each and every Chang brothers and sisters staying outside Tuensang district to be torch bearer of peace and ambassador of unity.
Earlier in the program, short speeches were delivered by PA to DC Mokokchung, president Ao Senden, ENPUM president and CKS secretary. A special song was also presented by Chang Sao Thangjam Mokokchung unit while the significance of Naknyulem was said by B. Chingmak. The program was followed by Naknyulum feast.
