NAPTC celebrates golden jubilee

Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC), Chumukedima celebrated its golden jubilee in a grand manner at NAPTC Complex here Tuesday with Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, TJ Longkumer, as special guest. NAPTC, which was raised on October 1, 1969, shoulders the responsibility of conducting basic training courses for cadet havildars and recruit constables of NAP and IR Battalions. 

Besides, the centre also caters to the training needs of the DEF and other auxiliary organizations like the village guards, fire and emergency services, excise, forest and home guards periodically. 

NAPTC has conducted 55 baisic raining and other courses and trained a total of 31,617 personnel till date.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP Nagaland, TJ Longkumer said he would ensure that more specialist training programmes were introduced at the training centre and assured full support of the PHQ in making NAPTC a centre of excellence.

Describing NAPTC as the nursery for Armed Police branch from 1st NAP to 15 IRB force, the DGP said “From this nursery was born the officers and men who have brought glory and name to Nagaland police.” Longkumer said Nagaland police, from inception till date, have displayed a pivotal role in Naga history as the peacekeeper.

He also said that Nagaland armed police and IRBs have served in many troubled spots around the country and have earned tremendous name and fame. 

Asserting that Nagaland police would be unwavering in its resolve to keep peace and tranquility in Nagaland, DGP said “We will make Nagaland a safe and secure land for our descendents, where they can develop and progress and become good citizens.”

On the occasion, former commandants of NAPTC were felicitated.

Earlier on his arrival, DGP unveiled the Golden Jubilee mural. He also released jubilee memento and souvenir. 

The programme began with welcome address and introductory remarks by NAPTC commandant L Ben Longkumer. 

Meanwhile, jubilee programme included greetings by former commandant of NAPTC, NN Walling, jubilee poetry recital by Master Aokonang Longkumer, tribute to NAPTC by Bendangwati Phom, BHM NAPTC, jubilee song by Team ABSI Bendangnaro, and jubilee cake cutting.

Later at the programme, NAPTC deputy commandant, Limatemsu Longkumer, proposed vote of thanks and PBC Chumukedima pastor, Rev. Manen gave closing prayer.
