DIMAPUR: The Nasha Mukt Yuva for Vikshit Bharat programme under the theme “My Health, My Pride” was held at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS), Kohima, to promote awareness among young people on the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to live healthy, drug free lives.
The programme was organised by the NSS Unit of RGHSS in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, and the Regional Directorate NSS, Guwahati, Assam.
Resource person Dr. Moajungla, Medical Officer, CHC Chiephobozou, administered the Nasha Mukt pledge to NSS volunteers and spoke on the importance of recognising circumstances that make individuals vulnerable to substance abuse. She highlighted the stages of addiction, its physical and psychological consequences, and stressed the role of counselling and rehabilitation.
In the Youth Engagement session, four NSS volunteers- Benchio, Junta, Rose and Sharon-shared their experiences in navigating challenges and pressures, reiterating the importance of both individual and collective involvement in addressing substance abuse.
The programme was chaired by B. Orenvungo Yanthan, PO NSS, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Moatemsu Jamir, PO NSS. Altogether, 330 NSS volunteers took part in the event and pledged to remain drug free, reinforcing the vision of a Nasha Mukt India and a healthier, stronger and responsible youth community.
