Northern Angami Students’ Union (NASU) has demanded waiving of school fees for unaided recognised private institutions.
While acknowledging the selfless service rendered by staff and management of every institution, both aided and unaided, the union in a representation to principal director of department of School Education urged the State government to pass an order directing all unaided recognised private institutions to waive off certain percent of tuition fees for unutilised facilities until formal or physical classes commenced.
NASU also asked institutions/schools not to debar students from attending exams and online classes on account of non-payment of fees, arrears or outstanding fees. Urging institutions/schools not to withhold results of examinations of any student on account of non-payment of fees, arrears or outstanding fees, the union further demanded that the institutions/schools should consider request made by parents finding it difficult to remit annual fees due to financial/economic hardships caused by the lockdown.
Through the representation, the union sought implementation of its charter of demands by the government and hoped the government would oblige.
