National BJP has directed BJP legislators of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, to remain neutral in the February 5 floor test by abstaining from voting.
The decision of the national BJP leaders to ask BJP legislators of Nagaland to abstain from voting in the February 5 floor test, also came with a warning, that those found violating the central party’s directive would be sternly dealt with.
The directive has been issued through BJP general secretary (organisation) and in-charge of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland Prasant Arora Tuesday.
Arora, who is currently involved with the by-election campaign of BJP in Arunachal Pradesh, informed this Reporter, that the directive came from the national BJP headquarters, with the instruction to have it circulated via media.
According to BJP sources, the central BJP organisation leadership had arrived at the decision, after weighing the matter with due gravity and consideration.
State BJP appoints chief whip
In a significant development, State BJP president Dr. M. Chuba Ao has written to the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) informing that he has appointed BJP legislator “Mmhonlumo Kikon as the party’s chief whip to the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly with effect” from February 3, 2015.
Speaker restores membership
Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Chotisuh Sazo in an order signed on February 3, 2015 has restored the membership of the following MLAs—Imtilemba Sangtam, Dr. T.M. Lotha and Mmhonlumo Kikon to the NLA with effect from 12-11-2014 as BJP Legislature party.
In the order, NLA speaker stated that “in pursuance of the judgment and order dated 12-11-2014 passed by the division bench of the Guahati High Court and setting aside the office order dated 25th August, 2014,” the membership has been restore “till such time the Supreme Court gives the final verdict.”
