SBI DISTRIBUTES 15 BICYCLES TO GIRL STUDENTS

To commemorate National Girl Child Day, State Bank of India (SBI) distributed bicycles to students as part of their ongoing CSR initiative aimed at supporting education and empowering young girls.

15 bicycles were distributed at a short distribution programme held at RBO premises Supermarket complex on January 24. The initiative recognizes schools that were doing well academically and focuses on helping economically disadvantaged students, particularly girls, by providing them with bicycles to ease their commute to school.

SBI Regional manager Hubert Wungshim, briefed the annual initiative and informed that this year, the initiative has recognized PM SHRI GHS Signal Angami, and the bicycles were provided under the CSR program.

In previous years, similar initiatives have been carried out, including donations to Government High School Nagarjun and Government Primary School, Poilwa.
Additionally, bicycles were also distributed to El Shaddai Orphanage School, which functions as a home for children.

Regarding the selection process, he explained that the school authorities were responsible for identifying the recipients. The selection is typically based on schools that perform well academically and have students who are economically disadvantaged.

Meanwhile, head teacher of PM SHRI GHS Signal Angami, Piviho Kiba, and Secretary of the Signal Angami Council, Melevi Natso have expressed gratitude to SBI for their initiative.
WOKHA: Social Welfare Department, Wokha ICDS project commemorated the National Girl Child Day on January 24 under the theme “Empowering Girls for a Bright Future.” As part of the celebrations, the department visited Anganwadi centers across the district and took pledges to protect and promote the well-being of girls.

Speaking on the occasion, CDPO Wokha, Renchano Odyuo, informed that there are 124 Anganwadi centers in Wokha district, which were grouped into 32 clusters to facilitate celebrations at multiple grassroots locations. The events were organized under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

“This year, we wanted to reach out to the grassroots level, which is why we chose to celebrate in 32 locations instead of holding a single formal event,” Renchano explained. She said each center conducted activities to raise awareness about the importance of empowering and preserving the girl child.

The events included fun activities. Meanwhile, Renchano informed that a program will be organised on January 22 at Englan range to mark the launch of the 10-year completion celebrations of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
