The National Health Mission Employees Association Nagaland (NEAN) has warned of a “total cessation” of work if the government fails to release all pending monthly remuneration on or before December 10, 2025.
In a statement issued after its general body meeting held on Saturday at Dimapur, NEAN president Dr. Thungjamo Ngulllie and general secretary Kewetso Kenye said NHM employees have not received salaries since September 2025, while the August salary was released only recently after repeated appeals. The Association said the prolonged and recurring delays have pushed hundreds of employees across the state, district and block levels into severe financial and emotional distress.
NEAN said NHM staff, who form the backbone of public health service delivery and programme management, have for years “adjusted, compromised and tolerated” late payments despite working in difficult conditions and receiving minimal remuneration compared to regular employees. Many employees, it said, are struggling to support their families, pay rent, EMIs and meet basic needs.
Stating that salary delays “should never be seen as normal,” the Association declared that employees “shall not bear it anymore” and would be left with no option but to halt all services if the issue is not immediately resolved.
NEAN urged the government and the department to put in place a mechanism to reserve two to three months’ salary in advance whenever funds are received from the Government of India to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the health system. The Association appealed for prompt intervention from the authorities, cautioning that failure to act would directly impact essential health services across Nagaland.
