The National Integration Tour (NIT), organized by 7 Assam Rifles (AR) concluded with a grand flag-in ceremony on October 9 at Medziphema on Monday. 18 students comprising of nine girls and nine boys along with two teaching faculty from Modern College, Piphema were part of the 10-day tour to Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The tour was aimed at providing the students of Nagaland a comprehensive exposure to various inspirational, educational and industrial institutions in the state of Gujarat, and to bring about all round growth.
The tour included visits to monuments of national importance like Statue of Unity, National War Memorial, Sabarmati Ashram, ISRO Space Centre, Science City and the coveted Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad and many other places.
During the flagging in ceremony by chief guest Sena Medal, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), major general Vikas Lakhera, highlighted the commitment of Assam Rifles towards bright future of people of North East, particularly Nagaland.
He stated that the experiences and exposures obtained by the students during the tour would certainly help them in bringing a positive change in personal lives and also the future of their state. Speaking on behalf of the students, Ricky Das and Urmipem Mokung while expressing gratitude to the Assam Rifles, maintained that the tour was not just vacation but opportunity to witnessed diverse and rich culture, gaining immense knowledge and experiences through different sighting and learned how to be responsible. Emphasizing on the limitless possibilities in India, Das conveyed that “when it comes to India, nothing is impossible.”
The further said that after the tour, they discovered that the world is their playground. The culmination event was attended by several civil dignitaries and students from various colleges in the area.
