National Lok Adalat disposes 220 cases across Nagaland

DIMAPUR: The 2nd Quarter National Lok Adalat was conducted across Nagaland on Saturday under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), with 11 benches set up in district headquarters of the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs). A total of 402 cases were taken up, out of which 220 were disposed, amounting to a settlement figure of Rs. 3,66,21,476. The overall disposal rate stood at 54 per cent.
According to Public Relations Assistant of NSLSA, cases included pre litigation matters such as bank recovery, loan recovery and telephone bills, as well as pending cases including criminal compoundable offences, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) disputes and other civil matters.
In Mokokchung, the Lok Adalat was held at the District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Victo Sema, District and Sessions Judge cum chairman, MDLSA. Ten pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up, of which eight were disposed, with a settlement amount of Rs. 16,44,000.
Peren DLSA conducted its sitting at SBI Peren Branch, presided over by Khrievono Seletsu, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum secretary, PDLSA. Out of 50 bank recovery cases, 24 were settled, amounting to Rs. 20,44,500.
At Kohima, Principal District & Sessions Judge cum chairperson KDLSA, Mezivolu T. Therieh, presided over the Lok Adalat held at the District Court Complex. Of 156 cases taken up, 23 were disposed, with a settlement amount of Rs. 17,22,048.
Mon DLSA, under the chairmanship of Nokshei Kano, District and Sessions Judge, disposed seven cases with a settlement amount of Rs. 20,57,540. Tuensang DLSA, led by Somet Chumden Chang, settled three bank recovery cases amounting to Rs.14,78,629.
Wokha DLSA, chaired by Seyielenuo Mezhu, District & Sessions Judge, disposed two pre litigation bank recovery cases with a settlement amount of Rs. 3,32,000.
Phek DLSA, under Duvelu Vero, disposed 27 bank recovery cases with a settlement amount of Rs. 49,55,778. Kiphire DLSA conducted a mobile Lok Adalat at SBI Pungro, settling 11 out of 13 cases with a settlement amount of Rs.17,31,200.
Dimapur DLSA, headed by N. Longshithung Ezung, disposed 102 cases including bank recovery, BSNL and MACT matters, with a total settlement amount of Rs. 99,69,211.
Zunheboto DLSA, chaired by Phuleto Yeptho, disposed seven cases with a settlement amount of Rs.23,67,922. Longleng DLSA, under Kumdilong Kessen, disposed six cases with a settlement amount of Rs. 83,18,648.
