National Lok Adalat: NSLSA disposes off 263 cases

District Legal Services Authorities organised the 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat for 2023 across the district headquarters where a total of 263 cases were disposed with settlement involved in some of the cases amounted to a total of Rs. 3,14,73,026.


According to Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) public relations assistant (PRA), a total of 263 cases/disputes were disposed in the State Lok Adalat out of the total 1217 disputes/matters/cases listed for compromise settlement which included cases in pending stage as well as in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank Recovery, Motor Accident Cases Tribunal (MACT) and other cases. It was also informed that settlement of the cases amounted to Rs. 3,14,73,026.


PRA said that the settlement amount was mutually agreed for payment between the litigants (or) parties involved in a dispute where the parties on arriving at a consensus. Settlement amount also included fine money, bank recovery money, money suits, compensation money.


In Dimapur, DLSA disposed of 58 cases with a settlement amount of Rs.1, 11,81,536.
Longleng DLSA conducted National Lok Adalat at District court complex Longleng along with SBI Longleng. 10 bank recovery cases at pre-litigation were disposed of with a total settlement amount of Rs.5,05,686.
In Wokha, at the sitting 10 cases were taken up out of which nine were loan or bank recovery cases (Pre-Litigation) and one was pending trial cases. Altogether nine cases were disposed with a settlement amount of Rs.15,88,59.


Zunheboto DLSA took up 30 pre-litigation bank recovery cases and disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs.21,67,542.
In Mokokchung, DLSA disposed of nine cases with a settlement amount of Rs.13,09,891.
Tuensang DLSA took up 12 cases and 11 were disposed of with a total settlement amount of Rs17,13,166.
In Phek, 40 matters relating to pre-litigation bank recovery cases of SBI and NStCB were taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs.40,62,334.


Peren DLSA took up 28 cases and settled with settled amount of Rs. 42, 36,515. A total of 966 pre-litigation banks and telephone recovery cases and four pending bank recovery cases was put up before the National Lok Adalat in Kohima, where, 34 bank recovery case and 16 telephone bill recovery case have been settled through the Lok Adalat with settlement amount of Rs. 29,55,784. Mon DLSA took up 46 cases during the session, and out of those, 16 cases were successfully disposed of. The total settlement amount was Rs. 17,06,978.
