National one health progress training held

District level stakeholders training under National One Health Progress was conducted as a One Day Awareness Program on Zoonotic disease at Chief Veterinary Office, Kohima Conference Hall on Friday.


The training was organised by CVO Office Kohima, under AH & Veterinary Services, Nagaland in collaboration with National One Health Program PCZ, Department of Microbiology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal under the aegis of NCDC.
A total of 50 numbers of Para-veterinarian and farmers attended the training. The program was chaired by deputy director & project coordinator, One Health Programme, Dr. S. Amenla Walling.


Keynote address was delivered by CVO, Kohima, Dr. Rokozo Dolie. He stated that the significance of Zoonotic lies in their potential to impact human health, economics, ecosystem and global health, health security. VS, Kohima, Dr. Elizabeth Yhome, VAS Botsa, Dr. N. Suokhrie and MS, ENT(RIMS) Bethesda Hospital Kohima, Dr. Vephizo, were the resource persons.


They emphasized that the number of human sickness due to Zoonotic diseases could be prevented and controlled if the disease load is controlled in the animal population. These could also be prevented by following simple but very important hygienic practices and proper SOP guidelines.


The topic covered Rabies, Brucellosis, Avian Influenza, Toxoplasmosis, Cysticercosis, Japanese Encephalitis, Tuberculosis from animal as well as human health perspective.
