‘National science day’ observed across Nagaland

Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima observed the day on the theme, “Science and Technology for Specially Abled Persons” organized by the Ecological Club of MITE at the college auditorium.
Principal Devanand Sinha delivered speech on the theme. He also emphasized upon the new innovations and discoveries in the field of science and technology and highlighted on seven earth-like planets discovered by NASA and 104 satellites launched by ISRO, India making India self-reliant in space-science. Grace Dawman, student-teacher of Sem-II emphasized on the need and importance of science and technology in our daily life. Programme was chaired by Shikna, student-teacher of Sem-II.
An extempore speech was also organized where Enakoli Kiba, student-teacher of Sem-II bagged the 1st prize. Video recording on the topic “Ill-effect of Global-Warming” was also screened. Vote of thanks was delivered by Kiboto L Awomi and benediction by Vikedo.
PSD: Pilgrim School, Dimapur (PSD) observed the programme in the school assembly hall under the theme “Science and Technology for Especially abled persons.” 
Invocation prayer led by Justin Ngully of class 9, significance of the day was given by Sulika Zhimomi of Class 10, a short video on ‘Life in International Space Station’ was shown which enthralled the audience. 
A theme skit “This is my story….when a Smart Phone came”, was enacted by the students of Scientific Club. Vote of thanks was given by Kaihru, of the Dramatic Club, and the entire programme was compered by Sana Karam, teacher-in-charge of the Scientific Club, Pilgrim School.
BMSJ: Baptist Mission School Jotsoma (BMSJ) Kohima organized science exhibition on the theme ‘Science in everyday life’. Altogether 32 teams comprising two members each, brought forth their scientific knowledge and understanding in the forms of science projects. Among the projects 18 were working models. The students, teachers and parents experienced a new and inspiring touch with the science during the exhibition.  Inaugurating the science exhibition the headmaster of the school V.J. Thomas exhorted the students to have a first hand experience with science rather than study for the sake of examination, and inculcate a sense of scientific aptitude in our everyday life.  The science teachers of the school Keneisazo Nagi and Khriesivono Nakro contributed greatly for the success of the day’s celebration. The judges of the day were Kekhrielezo Peseyie, Neivisie Peseyie and Seketoulie Keretsü.
PHEK: At Phek the programme organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Phek at Bethel School, Porba, was initiated with a brief introductory note by Dr. Rinku Bharali, ACTO, KVK-Phek. He gave a brief note on the significance of the day and demonstrated few scientific experiments. Head teacher, Bethel School Sashimeren, emphasized the importance of fostering scientific temper among the students. An Essay writing completion was held where Shelu, Matholu and Nutsu bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Consolation prizes were also given to the participating students. Vote to thanks was given by Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky, SMS (Animal Science), KVK-Phek.
MON: Programme was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mon representing 5 schools from Aboi town. The highlight of the programme was delivered by Dr. M.S Sachan, SMS (GPB). Dr. Sachan stressed on the importance of agricultural science and its achievement. Kevilhoukho Yhome, Science teacher, GHS Aboi exhorted the students on the importance of science and its technological usage. At the programme scientific model competition, quiz competition and painting competition were also held. 1st prize in quiz and painting competition was bagged by St. John School and in model competition 1st prize was bagged by Govt. High School. Earlier the programme was chaired by Imtinuksung, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Conservation), KVK Mon, welcome address by Martha Chakruno, SMS (Plant Protection) and vote of thanks by Kevi Medom, computer programmer.
