Department of Political Science and IQAC, Immanuel College organised a national seminar on “Women and Health”, at the college seminar hall on Monday. The seminar was sponsored by National Commission for Women, New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering as the special guest, Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, Dr Limatula Aier, emphasized on the significant role of women as backbone of the family and highlighted the interconnectedness between women’s health and overall well-being.
She stressed on the importance of prioritizing women’s health, including immunizing all children regardless of gender, whilst also dwelling on the importance getting regular checks ups at different stages of woman’s life.
Aier also informed the gathering on the services available for women and children, particularly the need for regular ANC check-ups during pregnancy. She expressed concern on the lack of diligence in health checks among the Nagas during pregnancy periods.
She also spoke on the importance of early detection as crucial for ensuring the safety of both mother and child.
Delivering the key note address, HoD, department of Political Science, ICFAI University, Dr. Shasanka Sekhar Pati considered health as an important factor that not only contributed to human well-being.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Asst Prof. Immanuel College, Serfudin Ali, welcome address by principal of the college, Th Sharatchandra Singh and vote of thanks by convenor, organizing committee, Khrutalu Dozo.
