Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) sincerely appealed all citizens to understand the gravity of the situation and refrain from “inciting unwanted statements creating divisions amongst the community” but take the positive insights solely meant for welfare of citizens of the state.
A press release from NAYO president Roko Angami and general secretary Rokoneitso Kire stated that, the safety of the people was the priority, wherein “NAYO is of the opinion that neither the Kohima Village Council (KVC) nor the other civil society organisations who are voicing out their concerns are solely doing it so for the safety of our people and with good intentions for the protection of our state.” NAYO further asserted that, “the state capital Kohima being a cosmopolitan city accommodating diverse Naga tribes and people from other states belongs to all” and believe “that it is the duty of every citizen of Kohima to give unflinching support to the government and the masses.” While pointing out that quarantine centres at Kohima was at saturation point, the NAYO called upon Nagas of all districts to share equal responsibility in the collective fight against the pandemic. NAYO also assured to extend support and reaffirm “ourselves to bring out logistics for the wellbeing and safety of the people”. NAYO also solicited the general public and tribal organisations not to jump into conclusions and make tribal issues at these challenging times but to stand united. NAYO made an appeal to all persons undergoing quarantine at various centres to strictly follow the rules and ethics set by the concerned authority.
