NBDA, MARCOFED chairmen take office

Accompanied by state BJP officials, newly appointed chairman of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Visasolie Lhoungu, state BJP president and chairman of Nagaland State Cooperative Marketing and Consumers’ Federation (MARCOFED) Dr. M. Chuba, core committee member, took over their new assignments in their respective offices on March 26 and 28. 
A press release by general secretary, BJP Nagaland, Jaangsillung Gonmei stated that while interacting with the department, the party was “enthused” with the new assignments and hoped that they will usher in an era of innovative initiatives to improve the existing infrastructure and programmes of the departments. The release also said the party hoped that they would develop their respective sectors to address several severe issues like job creation for the educated and uneducated unemployed, poverty alleviation, etc.
Addressing the department and party officials, chairmen of the bamboo mission and MARCOFED was confident that positive developmental changes would be ushered in and he assured them that he would strive hard towards realizing the goals for the people.
Team leader NBDA, Peter Lichamo, in his brief said that Nagaland had the highest varieties of bamboo which were not commercially utilised and that sustenance and proper utilization of these resources would address a myriad of economic issues.
Managing director of MARCOFED, T. Vituko Zhimo explained that MARCOFED was set up in 1968 but effectively commenced functioning in 1969 and that there was a lull for a decade till 2008 from when it improved.
The press release also acknowledged chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and congratulated the new incumbents with the party’s best wishes for a successful tenure.
