The Naga Club (NC) has appreciated and acknowledged the initiative and efforts of the Angami Public Organisation (APO) and the Kohima Village Council (KVC) in mediating between the club and the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) regarding the Naga Club building and the plot of land on which it stood.
NC president Kuolachalie Seyie and general secretary KN Mhonthung Lotha in a press release declared their support to the principle of ownership as determined by the APO and KVC based on Naga history.
Agreeing to accept the APO and KVC recommendations, they asserted to stand firmly by these in good faith and goodwill to bring closure to the matter, as was also earnestly desired by both the organisations.
They said both the organisations had stepped in to mediate between the NC and the NSF on the matter and, after a thorough and meticulous study of the historical facts, according historical propriety its rightful place, and by rational application of mind, had passed the resolutions and recommended their adoption by both the NC and the NSF.
According to the NC leaders, the principles of the resolution made was on four components — that the matter of ownership and construction must be left to the club, that on completion of a multi-storey building, some rooms would be given to the NSF for its office, that the Naga Club building be used by all Nagas of the entire Naga homeland with proper understanding, and that the NSF may be allowed to use the building for office till August 2023 (w.e.f. July 1, 2023).
