The 2nd annual general meeting of Nagaland Community Conserved Areas Forum (NCCAF) was held on March 16 at Hotel Japfu Kohima.
During the meeting a PowerPoint presentation was given by project manager FES, Alakesh Malla Baruah where the participants were enlightened about the urgent need of restoring an ecological balance in the state through the different CCAs.
On the occasion DFO Kohima, Sidramapa MC (IFS) spoke on the needs and functions of legality like, Biological Diversity Act 2002, Wild Life Act 1960, Forest Conservation Act 1980, Nagaland Jhumland Act 1970, etc.
Commissioner & secretary for youth resource & sports, team leader NEPED, Menukhol John said that the forum have made a milestone in making conservation a priority and working for restoring the lost of state’s rich biodiversity. While acknowledging that it is not an easy task to do such conservation activities, he also urged upon the members present to do better in the coming days.
During the meeting, the forum also adopted 5 resolutions which includes a practice and to propagate the slogan “no to polythene” for a plastic free Nagaland. NCCAF also invited the CCAs to join the forum to work together for a better Nagaland.
The meeting was attended by more than 30 members from different Community Conserved Areas (CCAs) of Nagaland and supporting agencies from the state government like forest department, NEPED and Foundation for Ecological Security (FES).
