A joint coordination meeting convened by the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has unanimously passed a resolution to constitute an action committee to deal with the attempt on the life of L Doulo, proprietor M/S Kuda Cold Storage, and illegal migrant issue.
In a press release, NCD president, T Bangerloba, and general secretary, Thsapongkyu Sangtam, stated that the meeting, held on September 26, 2017 at NCD office, after thorough deliberation constituted the action committee comprising Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) and all the Dimapur-based tribal presidents or his nominees under the banner of NCD.
The meeting, attended by NWHD, DDCF and all tribal presidents and secretaries, also condemned the attempt on the life of L Doulo allegedly by NSCN (K) and attack on a Naga family by non-Naga youths at Chumukedima.
According to the signatories, the joint coordination meeting was convened as citizens of Dimapur have been subjected to a number of criminal acts such as rape, killing, abduction, looting, extortion, intimidation or rampant taxation and other anti-social activities committed by underground factions and illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
In this regard, the NCD has appealed to all the factions to “take off the culture of killing, extortion, intimidation and hatred and put on the culture of love and harmony.”
On influx of illegal migrants, the NCD stated that the state government, to give effect to provisions of the inner-line permit regulation and for due enforcement, should frame guideline from time to time that ILP was required to be obtained by non-indigenous person to enter Nagaland.
It also urged the state government to set up measures for the safety and security of all citizens and establishments. NCD asked the law enforcing agency to deal promptly and register criminal cases against any such group/individual making demands.
Meanwhile, NCD has lauded the government of India for inviting working committee (6 NNPGs) to be part of the peace process. It maintained that the move was in support of the ongoing reconciliation of all the underground factions and to participate in the ongoing peace process in one voice. “…this is in accordance to the demands of the Naga people in general,” NCD added.
