Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has suggested that plying of both day and night public buses be started immediately from the ISBT, especially those using the Supermarket bus station.
NCD vice-president GK Rengma and NCD vigilance committee convener N Joseph Lemtur in a press release reasoned that this would not only ease the already heavy traffic congestion but also ensure that government infrastructure built specifically for such designated purposes were fully utilised.
They said they would also urge the Dimapur Urban Development Department to carry out all road maintenance exercise in and around Dimapur city before the end of the festive season.
Meanwhile, following mounting pressure from the general public for its early completion due to worsening condition of the traffic during the festive season, the duo said an NCD team made a spot verification of the ongoing railway over bridge (ROB) repairing work, and consulted with the engineers and contractor.
After thorough deliberation, they mentioned that they had come to the conclusion that ongoing repair work would continue beyond the end of this year.
Commending the commissioner of Dimapur Police for managing smooth flow of traffic, they called for addressing a few pertaining issues that need urgent attention and implementation due to the traffic bottleneck at the lone railway flyover. They also welcomed the implementation of odd-even rule for traffic by the Dimapur Traffic Police.
