Nchyuga Tep, 56 years old from Henbenji Village was adjudged as the “Best Farmer of the year 2015” under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) at farmers’ award cum release of newsletter organized by Land Resource Department (LRD) at Ura Academy, Tuesday.
The award was given to encourage farmers’ participation in recognition of their sincere and dedicated efforts towards successfully carrying out various development activities under LRD by farmers under Kohima district, other recipients were Thekrejuma Village for “Micro-Watershed of the year 2015” and Khekhrie SHG of Sechüma village for “SHG of the year 2015”.
Speaking as the chief guest, chairman DAN & co-convener PAC, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu urged the gathering to use resources in the state wisely and judiciously in order to improve the economy. He encouraged on earning through hard work and sweat.
Dr Shürhozelie lauded the initiative of LRD towards sustenance of livelihood, as well as restoring the ecological balance and degraded natural resources.
The chief guest also gave away the awards-cash prize and certificate to the winner and released newsletter.
Delivering keynote address, DPO, Dr Menuosietuo Tseikha gave a brief highlight on the great scope of agriculture towards improving economy. He sought the cooperation and support of all farmers to the department for any kind of projects that has been undertaking to bring about changes in the lives of rural people.
Director LRD, Mhathung Yanthan urged the farmers to do better and be a role model for other farmers.
He also asked to bring positive change in all spheres with utmost sincerity, clear vision and commitment.
