The Nagaland Conservatory of Music (NCM) choir will be presenting a special worship concert at Mokokchung Town Baptist Church on August 30, at 5:00 PM. The concert is open to all communities in Mokokchung and promises an evening of worship, fellowship and exceptional choral music.
The Nagaland Conservatory of Music choir has built an impressive reputation through performances both in India and abroad. The choir has represented India on international platforms in Norway, Belgium, Spain and Ireland, with its most recent international engagement taking place in Chiang Mai, Thailand. These performances have helped showcase the rich musical traditions and growing choral excellence of Nagaland to audiences around the world.
The concert will be conducted by Lipokmar Tzudir, one of India’s prominent choral conductors and a distinguished musician from Mokokchung. Tzudir has been a significant figure in the development of choral music and music education in India for more than two decades.
His contribution to the region’s choral movement includes leading the Patkai Chorale from 2009 to 2010 and subsequently forming the Nagaland Singing Ambassadors, which he led from 2010 to 2012.
Earlier, in 2005, he established the Mokokchung Chancel Choir, which went on to gain national recognition and receive multiple honours and awards.
In 2012, Tzudir established the Nagaland Conservatory of Music (NCM), an institution founded with a vision to provide quality music education and create opportunities for aspiring musicians.
Under his leadership, NCM has remained committed to grooming music educators, performers and future leaders in the field of music.
Today, the Nagaland Conservatory of Music is affiliated with Nagaland University and has emerged as one of the important destinations for music education in the country, attracting students who seek professional training in music.
For the Mokokchung Worship Concert, the choir will present a wide-ranging repertoire featuring sacred music, African-American spirituals, contemporary Christian compositions and creative arrangements of traditional hymns.
The programme will combine the timeless beauty of sacred choral music with the vitality of contemporary choral expression.
More than a concert, the event seeks to create an atmosphere of worship, reflection, celebration and fellowship, bringing together people from different communities through the shared experience of music.
