Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) national general secretary and spokesperson (I/c media and IT) Narendra B Verma said that the party was ready to form pre-poll alliance with any likeminded secular party to fight the 2023 State Assembly elections.
Addressing media persons at Hotel Seb Tower here on Monday, Verma categorically stated that the party will have nothing to do with the BJP, but join hands only with secular parties. Verma said people were now fed up of the corruption and problems created by the BJP and questioned the promise made by Prime Minister to provide good governance.
He said NCP has decided to contest the forthcoming assembly elections and field candidates in few constituencies. In this regard, Verma said his visit to Nagaland was to study the ground situation and prepare for the 2023 elections.
Without disclosing the names of the intending candidates, Verma said the party has marked five to six potential candidates. However, the final decision will be made in consultation with the State NCP functionaries, he said.
Meanwhile, Verma also informed that the national NCP president Sharad Pawar may visit Nagaland, coinciding with his visit to Meghalaya to inaugurate the NCP office.
