As part of the Bharat Darshan programme, the Nagaland Civil Service (NCS) Probationers 2024 Batch undertook a three-state exposure tour from September 8 to 26, 2025 covering Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura.
The programme aimed to acquaint future administrators with diverse governance models, innovative practices and India’s cultural heritage.
In Kerala (Sept 8–14), the tour was hosted by the Institute of Management in Government (IMG), where probationers attended sessions on the Kudumbashree women empowerment initiative, good governance and tourism development. They also visited the Kerala Arts and Craft Village, Startup Mission, CTCRI, and the Alappuzha Houseboat project, and interacted with humanitarian leader Mata Amritanandamayi at Amritapuri.
At the Netaji Subhas Administrative Training Institute (NSATI), West Bengal (Sept 14–20), the focus was on sustainable urban management, e-office practices and ethics in administration. The team visited New Town Kolkata Development Authority, Smart City, Eco Park, Indian Museum and Swami Vivekananda’s ancestral house. A field visit to Barasat II block provided insights into grassroots implementation of government schemes.
In Tripura (Sept 20–26), the State Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (SIPARD) facilitated sessions on rural development, welfare schemes, smart city projects and IT-enabled governance. The probationers also visited Agartala Land Port, Akhaura border, Dumboor Lake and Neermahal, and interacted with the Chief Secretary and Tripura Civil Service Association. The Bharat Darshan programme provided holistic exposure to best practices in administration, innovation and cultural diversity, enriching the probationers’ perspective as they prepare for public service.
