Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) has organized a seminar cum executive meeting at Development Association of Nagaland, 4th Mile, Dimapur, on January 17 and 18.
Speaking at the seminar on topic ‘Mother Mary – the model of mothers in the family’, Spiritual Director NCWA, Rev. Fr. Mhabemo Mathew Lotha, highlighted the important role of mother in shaping the future of the family and society. He said mothers should take adequate care in bringing up the family and community because children emulate the examples set by parents.
Gender Coordinator North East Diocesan Social Service Society, Guwahati, Alphonsa Monsang, spoke on Networking and advocacy where she urged NCWA to work and maintain good communication between local and tribal organizations and coordinate the activities at the state level to draw maximum benefit for each other. She said it is important to network with the similar organizations in the state, region and the country.
NCWA women coordinator, president CHAN, and Superior of HRHC Chumukedima, Rita Miasalhou, spoke on women leadership. Stressing on the importance of women role, she said women leadership is in need at present society as women play a vital role in church, family and society. She said NCWA has a great role to play not only in the church but also in the Society as agent of change.
Citing the example of Esther and Judith from the Old Testament, she said one should sacrifice and pray to save the society. Further, she encouraged the gathering to lead society with gospel values and work with sincerity and honesty.
On the occasion, annual plan was also chalked out. NCWA decided to conduct prayer and fasting day in every parish once in a year and the amount collected during the meet would be utilized for charity in the regions. Altogether 30 women leaders from regional units attended the programme.
