
Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) organized the first Bible quiz competition 2017 on October 29 at Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima under the theme “know our Bible”.
The event was graced by Bishop of Kohima reverend Dr. James Thoppil as guest of honour.
Delivering his message, reverend Dr. James spoke about how the Bible was inspired by God and it is nourishment for one’s soul. He encouraged the youth to keep in touch with the Bible and sustain one’s life by the word of God.
Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) president Dr. Neiviselie Simon Dzüvichü also exhorted the gathering on the topic “perspective of a Christian life”. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Akumnaro Longchar, invocation was pronounced by FMA, LFHSS, sister Mariam Kindo NCYM president Regina Razousinuo delivered greetings while quiz briefing was done by NCYM director reverend father G. Lawrence Khing and special numbers were presented by various groups and individuals. The quiz master for the competition was St Xavier’s College Jalukie principal reverend father Francis Cheerangal.
Meanwhile, a brief felicitation for Vestal Sankhro, spelling bee champion 2017 and Regina Razousinuo, governor’s gold medallist was held. The programme ended with declaration of results wherein Peren region bagged first position while Zunheboto and Dimapur bagged the second and third positions respectively. Two consolation prizes were awarded to Wokha and Phek regions. All winners and participants were given certificates along with cash. Altogether, ten regions from across diocese of Kohima took part in the competition.
Later, Zeneikho Benedict Pfükha delivered word of thanks while closing prayer was pronounced by vicar general, diocese of Kohima and Parish Priest Mary Help of Christians’ cathedral, reverend father Neisalhou Carolus Kuotsu.
