DIMAPUR: Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM), Diocese of Kohima, observed NCYM Sunday on September 13 with prayer, fellowship and youth centred activities across parishes and centres of the Diocese.
Observed annually on the second Sunday of September in accordance with Article 6 of the NCYM Constitution, NCYM Sunday is dedicated to celebrating young people and encouraging their active participation in the life and mission of the Church. This year’s observance brought together youths across the Diocese in a spirit of faith, unity and service.
Through Holy Masses, prayers, fellowship and youth activities, young people renewed their commitment to living out their faith and contributing actively to the mission of the Church. The Diocese wide observance reflected the vibrancy and diversity of the Catholic youth community, while highlighting the importance of accompanying, empowering and nurturing young people in their faith journey.
Marking the occasion, NCYM office bearers reached out to Eden Gardens Children’s Home, Khuzama, where age specific sessions were conducted to address spiritual, personal and emotional development. For Classes 1-5, a session on “Living a Successful Christian Life” encouraged children to grow in faith and live out Christian values. Students of Classes 6-8 attended a session on “Spirituality and Career Options,” focusing on balancing spiritual growth with awareness of future opportunities. For Classes 9-10, a mental health session emphasised emotional wellbeing and the importance of caring for one’s mental health during adolescence.
The sessions were complemented by activities and games, making the programme engaging and meaningful for the children. Prizes were distributed by Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian, Director of NCYM.
