NDD 1st round launched in Peren, Tuensang

National Deworming Day (NDD) 1st round 2018 was launched on Thursday at Government Middle School, Jalukie Town Sector A by District Health Society Peren (NHM) with the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
A press release by DPO-UIP/RCH informed that the programme was launched by SDO(C) Jalukie, T. Lankonsen Tsanglao, as chief guest, by administering the first tablet to school children.
In his speech, Lankonsen encouraged all those working at the grass root level to rededicate themselves and join hands to work in uplifting the health status of the people.
He said that the one tablet of albendazole given during NDD ensures that a child led a healthy life and as such all should ensure that this programme was implemented to the fullest.
Senior consultant, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, Risha, interacted with the students from the school and informed them about the importance of taking albendazole and IFA. She also stressed on personal hygiene and sanitation to protect against diseases.
In a keynote address, DPO-UIP RCH Peren, Dr. Khrielasanuo, highlighted the previous year’s achievement of NDD in the district which was at 98% and added that the achievement was possible only due to the efforts and cooperation extended by the ASHAs, department of education and social welfare.
She also said that though NDD was an initiative of the health department, it is the social welfare department and education department who are the actual implementing agencies.
At such, Dr. Khrielasanuo urged all concerned to actively participate in making the programme a success.
The programme was chaired by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Peren, Dr. Denis Hangsing.
Tuensang: National De-Worming Day (NDD) first round was launched on February 23 across Tuensang district and a launching programme was held at Bethesda School Tuensang Town.
A press release by CMO office informed that the NDD first round was launched by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Tuensang, Dr. T. Pangjung Sangtam and deputy CMO, Dr. I. Temsu Longchar with RBSK staff.
The release informed that 5400 students were de-wormed on the first day and that the department would carry on the de-worming drive in all Schools and Anganwadi centres covering the children under the age group of 1-19 years.
