NDPP attacks DAN as ‘the worst govt ever in Nagaland’

Seen as a bid to strike the right chord with a population that has grown cynical of the government, the newly formed Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has thrown a high pitch against the present DAN coalition government.
In a blistering attack on the present ruling NPF-led DAN government in the state, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party(NDPP) president , Chingwang Konyak on Saturday lambasted the NPF-led DAN government saying “the state has witnessed the worst government ever in Nagaland so far.”
Addressing the consultative meeting here at Town Hall, Mokokchung Chingwang Konyak went on to hit out at the government for failing in all fronts. He said even the democratically elected people’s representatives have lost their credibility. Chingwang lamented that all roads in Nagaland had become drains, while there was no activity in the departments and that the administration was in shambles.
Taking note of all these, Chingwang said that the need for a new party was necessitated. Chingwang said that NDPP was formed in response to the call of the masses for a change.
He said NDPP, would be accountable, transparent, fight corruption and restore the governing system. The party would also work towards strengthening the peace process and contribute towards finding an early solution to the Naga political problem, he said. He also emphasized on the need to decentralizing power from state to the districts.
NDPP working president, Alemtemshi Jamir in his address also took a dig at the present government. He said it was not only the worst government but rather no government at all.
He said the reason was because of an opposition less government, where assembly session is held for 15 minutes to discuss the numerous issues plaguing the state. Stating that NDPP was formed under the slogan “Let’s make a good Nagaland”, he said it was a party that was diametrically opposite to the current position in the state.
Jamir further went on to state that NDPP’s approach would be from bottom to top and not top to bottom.
NDPP secretary general, Abu Metha who also spoke at the program said that NDPP was not a result of political misadventure, but formed after thorough consultations with the various organizations and stakeholders in the state.
While assuring that NDPP would work with full commitment for the people, Abu said the doors of NDPP was open to all likeminded people.
Short speeches were delivered by Dr. T. Chumben Murray, former MLA and NDPP treasurer, Dr. John. Earlier in the program, the welcome address was delivered by NNDPP Mokokchung region president, Bendang Jamir while the vote of thanks was delivered by general secretary (admin) NDPP Mokokchung region, S. Bendang Aier.
