NDPP CYO holds meeting; inducts new team

The Central Youth Organisation (CYO) of NDPP inducted its new team for 2024-2027 during the 1st General Meeting cum Introductory Session held at the party headquarters on Saturday.
Advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, attended as special guest and encouraged youth members to take proactive and visionary roles in both party and governance structures. He emphasized that while academic qualifications were not mandatory, each member represented the best from their constituencies and carried the aspirations of the people.
He urged youth leaders to stay connected with constituencies and suggested creating a dashboard to monitor developments. He stressed the need for timelines and measurable goals to ensure efficient and purpose-driven action.
He reminded the gathering that public support is crucial for electoral success, stating, “The party wave is important, but sustaining it is even more crucial for growth.” He assured that the NDPP-BJP alliance government is stable and committed to youth empowerment.
“Our government is working to promote young people. We must bring innovative ideas and dedication to build hope for our communities,” he said. He highlighted Nagaland’s unique potential, calling it a hub for innovation and cultural vibrancy. He stressed the need to improve per capita income and diversify livelihood opportunities for a better standard of living.
Delivering the keynote address, CYO president Imchatoba Imchen emphasized the vital role of youth in strengthening party activities and expanding grassroots outreach. He informed that 69 members were appointed to the CYO, including 22 new entrants from various Assembly Constituencies (ACs) and 47 existing members. The team will soon hold internal discussions to familiarize new members with the youth wing’s operations.
Reflecting on the NDPP’s journey, Imchen stated that although the party is only eight years old, it has overcome challenges and achieved significant milestones under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, NDPP Ppresident Chingwang Konyak, and secretary-general Abu Metha.
He described the NDPP as “regional in character but national in outlook” and stressed that youth form the backbone of the party.
Imchen highlighted the importance of reaching out to grassroots communities to promote government policies. He noted that the youth wing has been actively engaging with local communities and relaying feedback to party leadership. He also acknowledged the power of social media, stating that platforms like Facebook and Instagram have become key tools in engaging young people and bridging the rural-urban divide.
The event was chaired by secretary Yonglong K Konyak, with an invocation by general secretary John Kikon. The welcome address was delivered by working president Lhouvi Punyu, while vice president Vichosel Rhutso introduced the new inductees. Secretary K Lakiumong Yimkhiung delivered a speech on behalf of the new inductees, and vice president L Sopong Wanmai presented a special song. The vote of thanks was proposed by general secretary Dode Nakro, while secretaries Zuthungbeni N Humtsoe and Kiviboto Sheqi recorded the proceedings.
