NDPP Kohima region celebrates pre-Christmas

Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Kohima region held its pre-Christmas celebrations at Chatsa, here on Wednesday hosted by minister for Horticulture and Women Resources Development, Salhoutuonuo Kruse and advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome.


Sharing the Christmas message, pastor, Phezoucha Baptist Church, Keduoneituo Yhome, said Christmas was a time of understanding the love of God shown through the life of Jesus.


He said Christmas was celebrated every year, however, there were times when the occasion was observed without fully understanding the meaning and things that were unbecoming of Christians.


He said Christ was born to this Earth not because humans deserve it but because His love for the people was unconditional.
He urged the gathering to make the upcoming Christmas a time of renewal and of blessings for everyone.


Sharing season’s greetings, minister for Salhoutuonuo Kruse said the story of Christmas never gets old and keeps renewing every year even though it was told over and over again.
Sharing her childhood memories of Christmas, Kruse said children waits for the season impatiently even though they could not fully understand the meaning and happily celebrates it every year.


She observed that it was a time for the people to count their blessings and to share love with their near, dear and loved ones.
In a short message, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome said the life of Christ was the practical depiction of God’s love for mankind.


He added that it also brought to limelight that everyone, irrespective of their economic background, social status or ethnicity, were equal in the eyes of God.
Yhome said the third and prominent message through the life of Christ was the assurance of eternal life for all those who believed in him.


The celebration was chaired by president, NDPP Kohima region, Prasielie Pienyü and invocation by pastor, Keduoneituo Yhome.
Special numbers were presented by Kenei Metha and Keziah Semy while vote of thanks by working president, Keduolhoulie Huozha.
