NDPP Peren responds to NPF Peren allegations

NDPP, Peren Region has issued a statement in response to what it termed as “erroneous allegations,” levelled by the NPF Peren division published on January 4.

NDPP, Peren president, Ziekuidi Zeliang in a press release stated that accusing the PDA government for transferring officers from Peren district quoting the ‘Change is Coming’ slogan, was childish and like “a child crying over spilled milk.” It pointed out that transfer and posting of government officials was a policy matter of the government for its smooth functioning. It added that crying foul on this matter was tantamount to accusing oneself for all transfer and posting done when NPF was at the helm of affairs.

Regarding sanctioning of funds for improvement of Peren-Tening road, NDPP Peren stated that only a meagre amount was sanctioned for improvement of the 48 Km road “as an election propaganda” and the department could execute earth filling at a few places, only to be washed away by the first rain of the year.

On the sanctioning of work for Peren-Tening road under NLCPR, it said that the project was proposed by Namri Nchang, MLA, after winning the election in 2013 and was approved during the chief ministership of Neiphiu Rio in 2013-14. Ziekuidi however claimed TR Zeliang could not follow-up on the project after taking over as chief minister. “This project could only be revived after PDA Government came into power due to the persistent initiative of Shri. Namri Nchang and magnanimous support of Shri. Neiphiu Rio” it asserted adding that it was included under road of ‘Economic Importance’ scheme by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.

On the statement of Tenning and Ahthibung headquarters being without officers after their upgrade, NDPP Peren accepted that that these headquarters were upgraded by the previous DAN government, but noted that Tening was upgraded to an ADC Hq. when Rio was the chief minister of the DAN Government. It also claimed that upgrade of Ahthibung SDO (Civil) Hq. was also initiated by local MLA, Namri Nchang when he was the chairman of the Peren DPDB and approved by the cabinet as per the recommendations of DPDB, Peren. “Therefore, giving all credits for these administrative headquarters upgradation to Shri. TR Zeliang is obnoxious”, it said.

The statement further cited to the RD department’s clarification regarding the allegations against the department, which it said was “without any hidden agenda and should be well appreciated.”

Taking a stab at “The glorified leader of NPF, Peren Division Shri. TR Zeliang”, it said that he was elected to the NLA thrice from Peren constituency and four times from Tening constituency and he was in the government all throughout, but his developmental activities were “unseen” in Tening area in particular and Peren district in general as, NDPP Peren said, was known to all sensible persons in the district.

On the Peren-Tening road, the NDPP division stated that it has been in horrible condition for more than two decades, yet TR Zeliang chose to ignore it and let the people suffer beyond tolerance.

It suggested that the present NPF leaders of Peren division would do well to not discuss developmental works in the public domain, when the present MLA & advisor, Namri Nchang “has been running from post to pillar” to bring developmental projects to the district.

It concluded with a stab stating that “Now, the hope of making Shri. TR Zeliang as Chief Minister once again by the NPF leaders will be just a dream since he has fallen like ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and NPF leaders ‘could not put him together again as Chief Minister’.”
