NDPP welcomes 7 NCP legislators, supporters

DIMAPUR, JUN 3 (NPN)

Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has welcomed the seven legislators of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), merged with it on May 31, 2025 along with their supporters.
NDPP media & communication committee said the decision of the seven MLAs was not a random decision but an act of having faith in the leadership of the NDPP president Chingwang Konyak and chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio.
NDPP maintained that the merger of NCP legislators reflected their belief that the regional party (NDPP) was an entity that felt and understood the needs and aspirations of the people. The M&CC also said NDPP was in position best suited to carry forward the voice of the people. It also said that at a time when the protracted “Indo-Naga” political issue was at a very crucial stage, the joining of seven leaders would further strengthen NDPP as a regional party. This would also help in furthering the agenda of pursuing the issue with all negotiating parties and Government of India to expedite the final settlement to “Indo-Naga” issue in their role as an active facilitator.
The party also made it clear that the merger of the seven MLAs with their supporters did not in any way affect the existing dynamics between NDPP and BJP—the Peoples Democratic Alliance. Rather, the M&CC said NDPP was of the opinion that this will further help in strengthening the Alliance with more members and that the PDA will grow stronger in the days to come.
NDPP assured its alliance partner BJP and the people of the State that PDA would continue to function as it has been for the last seven years; albeit, stronger and more united. NDPP also said that the collective role of PDA as a contributing member of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would continue with renewed vigour and commitment.
NDPP has called upon all the people of the State to continue extending their support to NDPP-led PDA government and help take Nagaland to brighter horizon.
