NE armed police forces debate on human rights

Annual North East zone inter central armed police forces debate competition on human rights was held on July 30 at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) Shokhuvi.

A press release by ARTC&S Shokhuvi stated that six teams comprising of Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB and ITBP represented central armed police forces based in the North East region and participated in the event. 
The release informed that the topic of the debate, “to strictly observe human rights norms in all cases of security concerns is not possible” was chosen by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) with a view to sensitise the security forces about human rights and related issues while dealing with the public. The chief guest of the event was inspector general of police (range) PHQ, Kohima, Sonia Singh. Jury members of the event were group Cdr, NCC, Kohima, Brig S S Dhankhar and Editor, Nagaland Today, Dimapur, Bano Haralu. The team of the Assam Rifles secured 1st position and teams of the BSF and ITBP secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in Hindi Language debate category. In the category of English Language, BSF secured 1st position and the teams of the Assam Rifles and ITBP secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
