NE not periphery but pulsating heart of India’s growth story: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that for the first time, the Northeast is not the periphery but the pulsating heart of India’s growth story.
Sharing an article by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on X, Modi said Arunachal Pradesh mirrors the spirit of Viksit Bharat—from new airports to empowered self-help groups (SHGs), and from connectivity to creativity.
Scindia, in his article, described the Northeast as India’s Ashtalakshmi—a region of diversity and opportunity that has transformed into a vibrant hub of progress. Recalling his visit to Arunachal Pradesh’s Ziro Valley, he highlighted the blend of rapid transformation and rich cultural heritage aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of a “Rising Northeast.”
He noted that local artisans and SHGs empowered under government schemes are driving inclusive livelihoods through weaving, food processing, and crafts rooted in traditional practices.
Scindia also praised the impact of Digital India initiatives, saying that cashless payments have empowered even remote communities.
Calling the Northeast “a garland of pearls strung together by countless cultures,” Scindia said the region reflects India’s unity in diversity and stands today as a key driver of the nation’s growth.
