North Eastern states sharing border with Myanmar would discuss Centre’s recent decision to fence Indo-Myanmar border and end the Free Movement Regime (FMR). This was disclosed by deputy chief minister Y Patton while talking to media persons at Police Headquarters here on Monday.
He said all the states bordering Myanmar would discuss the issue and meet the Central leaders. He however did not divulge the date when the meeting would be convened. Meanwhile, Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma said while the Centre had taken a decision, the state government would be giving its views and opinions on how to manage the border in the absence of the FMR.
He also disclosed that the Nagaland Police was providing inputs to Centre on how the border could be regulated. He pointed out that while the international border issue was a matter of national security, the views, sentiments and emotions of the people along the border could be considered while taking any decision.
