Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) has alleged that “nearly 100%” appointments were made through backdoor during the 12 and half years rule of NPF-led DAN government.
In a press release, NPYC vice president Yanchamo Lima Ovung and general secretary Limayangba Lemtur claimed that till the Congress rule in 2003, the state had 76,000 government employees, well within the limit of the ratio against the population. The only problem was with the work-charge employees, it added. However, during the NPF-led DAN regime, it said around 1,40,000 employees, excluding work-charge were appointed through backdoor.
NPYC said this clearly indicated that “nearly 100%” were backdoor appointments, without giving fair chance to the educated unemployed youth through NPSC or departmental service board and termed it as sheer practice of “manipulation, favoritism and political biasness”.
Stating that it was not against any individual, NPYC reiterated that it would continue to fight for equal opportunity of all educated unemployed. Unless fair competitions are held, NPYC said it would continue to pressure and demand for the resignations of those appointed through backdoor, on moral grounds.
NPYC further hit out at the NPF-led DAN government, stating that it should be ashamed to note the backdoor appointments, which had reached its zenith, during its regime. If the government fail to respond to the demands, NPYC said it would continue to protest till justice was delivered.
Meanwhile, it was also learnt that the Governor had forwarded the memorandum submitted by NPYC on July 29 to the CM and CS.
