Neidonuo, Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung conferred State Senior Citizen Award

In celebration of the International Day of Older Persons 2025, the Government of Nagaland conferred the State Senior Citizen Award on Neidonuo Angami and Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung for their lifelong contributions to society. The state-level event, held at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima, also marked the 25th anniversary of the Senior Citizens Association of Nagaland (SCAN).
Born on October 1, 1950, Neidonuo Angami has been a pioneering figure in social service and women’s empowerment. She began her career in 1969 as part of the first batch of Women Police in Nagaland and later served as a teacher and Guides captain. Her leadership roles include serving as General Secretary of Kuda Raza Angami Miapfii Krotho, founding member and president of the Nagaland Weaver’s Association, and long-term involvement with the Naga Mothers Association (NMA), where she held key positions including president and advisor.
Angami’s initiatives span rehabilitation, HIV/AIDS care, and senior citizen outreach. She founded the Awakening Bells Centre (ABC) in 2008 to support children and orphans affected by conflict. Her accolades include the Padmashri Award (2000), multiple lifetime achievement awards, and a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize under the ‘1000 Women Global Women Project’ in 2005.
Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung, born on January 10, 1949, has dedicated his life to education, mission work, and community development. From his early days as a school teacher in Longleng to his current role as Chancellor of North East Christian University, his career reflects a deep commitment to societal transformation. He has served as General Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Director of the Nagaland Mission Movement, and member of the Nagaland Public Service Commission.
Dr. Keikung played a pivotal role in establishing Yingli College and promoting education through the Phom Lempong School. He led the Leprosy Eradication Movement in his community and coordinated efforts for the creation of Longleng district. His contributions extend to national and international platforms, including representation at the Asia Pacific Baptist Fellowship and Baptist World Alliance.
The awards were presented in recognition of their enduring service, leadership and impact on society, exemplifying the values of compassion, resilience, and civic responsibility.
